BIO

Coming from a very musical family, Detroit born singer, songwriter and vocal producer Jennifer Edison grew up in Southfield, MI where she began her journey into the music world at a very young age.  “My mother tells me that I sang a whole song in my sleep when I was three years old”, she says and she hasn’t stopped singing since.

“I remember watching my Dad play the piano and organ when I was little.  He would write songs and my mother would sing them.”  There was no denying her desire to sing and her parents have always supported and encouraged her dream.

Jennifer began writing songs at the age of 13.  She would team up with her oldest brother Charles Edison and her Dad Raymond Edison and write songs in various genres from R&B, to Country, Rock, Jazz and Gospel.  “Writing is something that really became a strong passion for me.  I used to help my Dad arrange vocals and harmonies for a gospel group and I just loved being involved in the creative process of a song” she says.

Jennifer continued to work with her brother as well as other producers in the industry and soon captured the attention of a few major publishers.  “I want all of my songs to have a point.  Even if the point is to just have fun, I like to write songs that have a purpose and an overall message.  I like to break down a situation and talk about things that we all probably know but never really say out loud, or maybe in a way we never thought about”, she declares.

Her determination shows as she continues her fleet in the independent world.  “Creative freedom is very important to me” she says, “I don’t want to be turned into something that I’m not and I’m going to stand by that until the end.”  Her two previous independent albums “JLE - That’s Me” and “A Thousand Wings” respectively set the foundation for her journey as an independent artist as she demanded the attention of the press, radio and record pools having her single playing on over 30 commercials stations as well as record pools in the USA and Germany.

Her internet buzz spread from the #1 Unsigned artist on Soundclick.com to #1 Unsigned artist on Myspace to winning over 12 awards on Garageband.com including Best Female Vocals and Best Lyrics.  With a B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University, intimidation is not a factor in Jennifer’s willingness to get involved in the not-so-artsy business aspects of her career as she looks ahead to a successful career in music.
